First created in 1868; The area was known as Andy Johnson; then Toombs; finally Wilkin County.
County Seat is Breckenridge.
Cities, towns and communities include:  Breckenridge, Brushvale, Campbell, Doran, Everdell, Foxhome, Kent, Kutzer, Lawndale, Nashua, Rothsay, Tenney and Wolverton.

Wilkin County is located in western Minnesota, with the state of North Dakota at it's western boundary.  Neighboring Minnesota counties include:  Clay county to the north; Otter Tail and Grant counties to the east; Traverse county to the south; and the North Dakota
county of Richland to the west.
