Fort Ouiatenon : French fort, established in 1717, near Lafayette, IN.

The Shawnee Prophet "Tenskwatawa" and Tecumseh .

Tecumseh and Prophet's Town (near Lafayette, IN): The History of Tecumseh and the battle at Tippecanoe Creek .

Shooting Star (Tecumseh) A skilled and courageous Shawnee fighter, Tecumseh was, however, known for his opposition to unnecessary, arbitrary killing. He and his brother, Tenskwatawa (The Shawnee Prophet), established a northern Indiana village called Prophet's Town, which was later destroyed in 1811. Tecumseh died at the Battle of the Thames on Oct. 5, 1813.
