Koochiching County

Koochiching County was first created in 1906 from Itasca.
The COUNTY SEAT is International Falls.
Koochiching County is located in northern Minnesota. Neighboring
Minnesota counties include: St. Louis
county to the east; Itasca to
the south; Beltrami
and Lake
of the Woods counties to the west. The Canadian Province of Ontario
is its northern neighbor.
Most of Koochiching County is encompassed within either Pine Island State
Forest, in the western portion, or Koochiching State Forest, in the eastern
portion. Exceptions to this include the following:
NETT LAKE INDIAN RESERVATION : located in southeastern Koochiching County,
and extends across the county boundary into St. Louis County. A town
and a lake also share the name "Nett Lake", with both situated at the county
line and extending into both counties.
RED LAKE INDIAN RESERVATION : portions are located in western Koochiching
County.
And
Bridgie Township is located in the southwestern corner with the communities
of Mizpah and Northome.
And
VOYAGEURS NATIONAL PARK extends into the northeastern corner of Koochiching
County from St. Louis County.
SMOKEY BEAR STATE FOREST is in central Koochiching County.

Landing, Big Falls, Birchdale, Bois Fort, Bramble, Craigville, Ericsburg,
Fairland, Frontier, Gemmell, Grand Falls, International Falls, Island View,
Laurel, Lindford, Littlefork, Loman, Manitou, Margie, Mizpah, Nakoda, Nett
Lake, Northome, Rainy Lake City [historical], Ranier, Rauch, Ray, Silverdale,
South International Falls, Stals, Wildwood and Wisner.
