The geographic areas of California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah are in the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical provinces of San Fransisco and Los Angeles.The Archdiocese of Los Angeles includes the Dioceses of Fresno, Monterey, Orange, San Bernardino and San Diego in California.
The Archdiocese of San Francisco includes Dioceses of Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, Santa Rosa, and Stockton, in California and
Diocese of Honolulu in Hawaii,
Diocese of Reno and Diocese of Las Vegas in Nevada,
Diocese of Salt Lake City in Utah,
and the geographic areas of the Equatorial Islands of Christmas, Washington, Palmyra and Fanning.
The first diocese of California Del Norte was established by Pope Gregory XVI on 27 April 1840, and Franciscan Friar, Francisco Garcia Diego y Moreno, was the first bishop of the Californias. The Diocese boundaries, for the Diocese of both Californias, were the Colorado River to the east, Oregon line north, Pacific Ocean in the west and all of Baja California to the south.Select the location from the highlighted (underlined) below:
