• A French Jesuit missionary priest, Father Isaac Jogues, visited New Netherland in 1643-1644.  St. Isaac Jogues was born 10 Jan 1607 at Orleans, France, and was martyred, on 18 Oct 1646, at Ossernenon, which was in the area of present New York* state.
