   First evangelized  by the Spanish Carmelite Missionaries, in the 17th Century, the territory became part of the Mission of Krishnagar (West Bengal, India) in the mid-19th century.  The Diocese of Dinajpur presently encompasses all of North Bengal (the Civil Districts of Dinajpur, Thakurgon, Panchagar, Pangpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha and Upazila Panchbibi of Joypurhat).

   The Diocese of Lucknow was formed, in 1940, from portions of the Diocese of Allahabad and the Archdiocese of Agra. It originally encompassed the civil districts of Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, Kheri, Nainital and Almore (from the Allahabad Diocese) and Shahjahanpur and Pilibhit (from the Archdiocese of Agra).  New dioceses have, in turn, been formed from portions of the original Diocese of Lucknow, and it presently encompasses the Uttar Pradesh civil districts of Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, Hardoi and Kheri.
• Diocese of Meerut - (Latin Rite) [est. 1956] (Northern India in state of Uttar Pradesh)

   Formed, in 1956 from the Archdiocese of Agra, the Diocese of Meerut originally encompassed the Uttar Pradesh civil districts of Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Dehra Dun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Garhwai, Tehri, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Ghaziabad and Haridwar.  In 1972, the districts of Bijnor (with the exception of Dhampur Tehsil), Garhwal, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Chamoli, became part of the newly established Diocese of Bijnor.  The districts of Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Dehra Dun, Rampur and Moradabad remained within the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Meerut.

   From 1886, Bhopal was within the newly formed Diocese of Allahabad.  In 1935, it became part of the Prefecture Apostolic of Indore.  The Archdiocese of Bhopal was then established in 1958, when the capital of the State of Madhya Pradesh was shifted to Bhopal from Nagpur.

   Formed from portions of the dioceses of Ajmer, Allahabad and Nagpur, the Mission territory of Indore originally encompassed the civil districts of Indore, Khargone, Dhar, Jhabua (with the exceptionof the tehsil of Thandla), Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapr, Rajgarh, Bhilsa, the State of Bhopal, and the district of Khandwa and Hoshangabad.  In 1964, 4 districts became part of the Archdiocese of Bhopal, and, in 1968, the districts of Ujjain, Shajapur and Rajgarh were attached to Ujjain.  When the Diocese of Khandwa was erected, in 1977, it encompassed the districts of Khandwa and Khargone, and in 1981, the district of Mandsaur was transferred to the Diocese of Ajmer.

   The Diocese of Belgaum encompasses the civil districts of Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot Dharwar, Gadag and Haveri, in Karnataka State, and Chandgad Taluka, in Kolhapur District of Maharashtra State.  It was formed, in 1953, from a portion of the Archdiocese of Goa (Belgaum and North Kanara) and the Diocese of Poona (Dharwar and Bijapur).  In 1976, when the Diocese of Karwar was formed, the district of North Kanara became part of the new diocese.
